Indian Valley/Butter Creek Area Trails
The Indian Valley/Butter Creek area to the west of Hayfork has been designated a 'roaded
recreation' area by the United States Forest Service. 'Roaded recreation' emphasizes
recreational opportunities associated with developed road systems and exisiting dispersed
camping areas. The extensive network of lightly used roads in the Indian Valley/Butter creek
area provide a large variety of loop routes ranging from three to twenty-five miles in length.
The roads pass through diverse forest environments which can be enjoyed by hikers, mountain
bikers and equestrians during the spring and summer and by cross country skiers during the
winter.
