What is
    ShastaNet_

ShastaNet, founded to provide a high speed data communications infrastructure for Shasta County, exists to transmit and share information between individuals, government entities, social service agencies, business, and educational institutions. ShastaNet is a coalition of agencies and individuals, including but not limited to, businesses, government agencies, community based organizations and private citizens. This network is a component of Northern California Regional Computer Network (NCRCN), a regional organization created to bring telecommunication to groups and individuals within Northern California.

ShastaNet, through NCRCN, is part of a growing number of Free-Net type networks throughout the U.S. Anyone can use ShastaNet, although we urge you to become a member. We also encourage you to post information on the net.

ShastaNet can empower every individual in our community to achieve their maximum potential by providing free and equal access to modern network-based information systems. We encourage individuals and organizations from both the public and private sectors to join ShastaNet.
